so i have been on the ol wakeboard for awhile decided id give the surf a try and...mikey likes it...xcept i SUCK....

how fast are you being towed?
It almost looks like your fighting to get in front of the wake, but can't.

animalc22 you have to get out of that, next time get on your toeside edge and get away from the wake and the wash!
If you edge down the wave to the flats you can get positioned correctly and pull/ride into the wave. You also appear to be starting heelside, is this intentional? This is one of the hardest ways to learn if you do not have any real surfing experience. You might be better off trying goofy and riding regular toeside on the starboard side of the boat. It's much easier to learn this way.
How fast are you going? Are you regular or goofy when you wakeskate/board?
Don't get discouraged, the curve from "how do I get ropeless" to "hey watch this" is very very quick! You just have to get the basics of positioning and stance down and then get outside the wash inching in to the goodness.
